Transforming Lives, One at a Time!
Matching Gift Opportunity Offered Until 12/31/17
As we near the end of 2017 Love In The Name of Christ (Love INC) of Greater Hancock County has been blessed with a unique gifting opportunity. Between now and December 31 your gift will be matched by a very generous donor $1 per $1. Whatever amount you give will be doubled!
This generous matching opportunity has been offered from long time local resident Mr. Robert Wortman. Mr. Wortman has chosen Love INC of Greater Hancock County to receive this gift in honor of his mother, Velma Davis Wortman, who recently celebrated her 107th birthday!! Velma is the daughter of Horatio and Venice Davis who were residents of Hancock County and former teachers at Westland School. Velma was a 1927 graduate of Westland High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Madam Blaker’s Teacher’s College, which later became part of Butler University. In 1929, she began teaching at the age of only 18 in Gary, IN. Velma returned to Morristown High School as an English teacher for many years. At the age of 50 she earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science from Butler University. She transitioned into becoming the first full time librarian at Morristown High School and retired from there in 1977. Can you imagine the number of student’s lives she influenced in her many years of teaching?!
Your donation will ensure that Love INC can continue the mission of mobilizing Hancock County churches to transform lives and communities in the name of Christ! In the last 12 months Love INC’s Clearinghouse has received over 822 calls from residents that have resulted in 1,002 adult & children’s needs being met. Also, at least 400 volunteers were mobilized resulting in over 2,673 hours of donated time. Your generosity will allow Love INC to continue to address the needs of our neighbors in Hancock County that need help.
We are grateful for Mr. Wortman’s support of Love INC’s mission and for the love of his mother. We are asking you to prayerfully consider a year-end gift to take advantage of this opportunity. We praise God for our community’s collective support and thank you for your consideration.
